My Roofer, LLC is a local, Culpeper county roofing company that is family owned and operated. Just like we care for our own families, our company cares about providing our customers with the best service possible.

When it comes to metal roofing, there are three types that are generally used for roofing applications. Metal roofs are best placed on steep-sloping roofs. They are available in:

  • Architectural metal panel
  • Metal shingles or metal shingle panels
  • Structural metal panels

In general, the architectural metal panel is structured for water-shedding and are ideal for steep-slope roofs. Roof slopes of 3 inches per foot or greater are recommended for this type of roofing system. Solid roof decking is required, and it is recommended that an underlayment is used.

Structural metal panel roofs can be used on low or steep roofs. The are constructed with water barrier characteristics.

The traditional flat seamed, soldered or welded metal roof system, such as copper, can be used on slopes less than 3 inches per foot.

Metal shingles and shingle panels come in varieties for use as steep-slope roof coverings. They are mostly press-formed during manufacturing and come in a variety of shapes that can take the shape of individual or more asphalt, tile, slate, or wood designs. You can purchase metal roof shingles or panels that look like real wood, natural stone, clay, and more.

Condensation can form under metal roof panels, so special consideration is taken for vapor retarders, insulation, and ventilation problems.
